“A small action for a Gadabursi Diaspora, one giant leap for the legitimate desire of Harawo Zone ratification”

London(Saylac.com)-Acting under the highest law of the land “The Ethiopia Federal Constitution”, article 30, section 1(Everyone shall have the freedom, in association with others, to peaceably assemble without arms, engage in public demonstration and the right to petition). Fathi Abdi handed the formal petition containing hundred of signatures collected from Birmingham and London (Wembley) in which all signed for their strong wishes that Harawo zone to be ratified.
It has been formally handed over on the 4th/ 03/2012, one (the copy) on behalf of the Federal Ethiopian’s Embassy to His Excellency Ambassador Berhanu Kebede (Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary) and the original to his Excellency Cabdi Maxamuud Cumar (President of Somali State of Ethiopia).
The content of the petition was as follow:
PETITION:
Somali State of Ethiopia
We, the undersigned elders, youths and professionals in Europe, America, Africa, Asian and Oceania, hereby declare:
For decades and since King Haile Selassie I reigns, there has been a legitimate and undying request for the establishment of a Harawo Zone of Ethiopia. This legitimate request had suffered devastating hardship from the Derg and is now expecting to be accommodated by the emerging Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
This legitimate desire has been borne out of factual grounds, namely:
A) Demographic ground: Harawo Zone (According to Ethiopia census 2007) have a higher population than Wadher Zone (306 488) Korahe Zone (312 713) and many more, while Awbera only (excluding Dhembel, Jigjiga or Shinile) have 339 509 people.
B) Geographical Settings: Harawo Zone is geographically bigger than the following existing zones of Ethiopia (Togo, Agew Awi, Amaro, Burji, Dirashe, Konso, Gambella zone 4, Oromiya (R3), East tigray, Gedio and many others). Harawo Zone is geographically and strategically important to the Somali State of Ethiopia capital Jigjiga and as well as to Harerge (the Oromia State of Ethiopia). Teferi Ber being for many centenaries the gate of fear, it is now a possibility to be the gate of opportunities for cross country transhipment activities.
C) Economical Reasons: Awberra (Teferi Ber) has exceeded or matched various existing Zones in the Somali State of Ethiopia and approving its zone status will only strengthen but also boost the local people confidence in emerging as an economical stable Zone.
Therefore, we hereby declare that the creation of a new and strong Harowo Zone is valid and subsisting. This is not a request we seek to impose on the Somali State of Ethiopia but it is what we the children of harawo zone strongly believes in and stand for. We believe on the Ethiopian Constitution signed by the nations, nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia and there are no higher institutions or law in Ethiopia than the Ethiopian constitution.
We seek the creation of harawo zone under the rights derived and defended by the highest rules of law in Ethiopia “The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Constitution”
We, the undersigned respectfully and formally request from the President of Somali State of Ethiopia and his government to ratify the long awaited Harawo Zone
